BLOGMAS DAY 2: YOU BEAUTY DISCOVERY ADVENT CALENDAR

Yesterday sitting by our Christmas tree was a box with a cute card (shaped like a princess crown) telling me to open it. Inside was the You Beauty Discovery advent calendar that my husband surprised me with. He is a good egg!

A few excited squeals later and it was set up next to our festive fairy lights. You can find further information on the beauty box on a previous blog post here and it is still available to buy online!

I’ll update my blog everyday with a little peek into each window. A useful little guide came with the box introducing the items, so I know what to expect. There is a good selection of products worth over £240 with well-known brands like my favourite tan Vita Liberata, Essie, Benefit and Laura Mercier. Each window opens to the product as well as a cute little card with a beauty quote. I would add a photo but my pretty rubbish camera and poor lighting means it’s not worth it – a DSLR is on my Christmas wish list!

“Radiantly healthy-looking skin begins with the most awarded cleanser in the UK.” Liz Earle

For the first day, yesterday, it was the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser plus Pure Muslin Cloth. I actually already own this but seeing it beautifully wrapped up and hidden in the little window made it exciting.

I don’t use this as a cleanser as I feel the formula is a little too thick for me to use everyday, so instead I apply it as a mask, usually the evening before a party or an event. It definitely does something to my skin as it leaves it visibly brighter and glowing.

Filled with rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter and eucalyptus essential oil the creamy consistency is soft on the skin and feels a little luxurious.

“What makes you unique, makes you beautiful.” Laura Mercier

Today I was pleasantly greeted with the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. And I have coveted this for a long time.

The Laura Mercier primer is described as a lightweight, creamy gel that prepares the skin for makeup application. It creates an even, invisible layer that acts as a buffer to outside elements and keeps makeup staying fresh and colour-true the entire day.

As I haven’t yet tried this I can’t review it but having tested it on my hand, I can confirm the gel formulation is incredibly lightweight!
