Summer bodies are made in the kitchen so I was delighted to receive a selection of goodies from Myprotein, Myvitamins and Exante Diet to review. We'll start with protein powder as it is at the heart of my current diet. I have used the Soy Protein Isolate before but never a flavoured version. Let me tell you now, the strawberry cream flavour is seriously good. Soy Protein Isolate is made from 100% NON-GMO defatted soy beans suing a stringent process which removes a vast majority of the fat and carbohydrate content. The resulting product yields over 90% protein content with minimal fat and carbohydrate, whilst being completely free of lactose. Soy Protein Isolate is the boasts a comprehensive amino acid profile - including 6.6g Leucine per 100g. I add a scoop of soy protein powder to my shake either before or after a workout - with over 90% protein count it really helps with muscle growth and strength. My favourite protein shake is green based and I make this Monday - Friday, occasionally at the weekend too. I find it quite difficult to maintain a good weight without losing it too quickly but protein shakes really help ensure I have enough energy to work my arse off in the gym! Spinach Smoothie
  • One scoop of soy protein powder
  • Handful of spinach
  • One banana
  • One apple
  • Water or almond milk
  • Blueberries
Protein Diet Bars
Chocolate Orange Diet Bar£2.20
Chocolate Orange Diet Bar£2.20

Exante Diet Bars are essentially meal replacement bars specifically formulated to aid healthy weight loss as part of a low calorie plan; low in carbs and high in protein. However, I'm a little different and used the protein bar as a supplement to my diet, to give me additional energy before I exercise. It worked.

With all the science in there somewhere (they are enriched with vitamins and minerals), I had so much more energy, that lasted much longer too. Exante Diet sent me a Chocolate Orange diet bar to review which was actually quite tasty, nothing amazing but definitely not offensive to eat. I'll definitely purchase a few more to keep in the cupboard for the days when I want to push myself hard in the gym. Coconut Oil Coconpure Coconut Oil I've wanted to try coconut oil for a long time as journalists are quite consistent in bombarding us with stories on how versatile it is in health and beauty. Coconpure (£9.99 for a 460g tub) is a multi-purpose organic coconut oil and is regarded as being the healthiest dietary oil around due to its unique saturated fat content which is rich in lauric acid and medium chain triglycerides. I love it and will definitely be using it a lot. Vitamins I regularly take vitamins, mostly essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin D and Iron supplements for health reasons but I truly believe the right vitamins can enhance how we look and feel. Myvitamins sent me the the Super Vitamin B complex and complete electrolytes but the whole range is pretty impressive and you can tailor your daily intake to what suits you. For example, the True Woman - Hair, Skin and Nails could be complemented with a good antioxidant like Total Acai Berry.
