So, I initially had a wedding reception dress made in the style of the below Berta Bridal dress. It looked exactly the same with gorgeous lace and a stunning backless design.
However, I lost A LOT of weight and the dress lost the beautiful fitted shape it should have had. It looked kind of silly on me. Rae, my fairy dressmaker, decided to make me a new dress in only a few weeks.
We agreed it would be backless and have lace sleeves and in a style that wouldn’t need to be fitted (so my weight loss wouldn’t change the shape). But other than that my dress was pretty much in Rae’s hands. She knew my style and that I loved Israeli wedding dress designers so I felt quite comfortable but eager to see what she would come up with.
I collected it from Rae the day before the reception. Yes, a day before! I sewed in a modesty panel and threw on a petticoat, put on my Jimmy Choo’s and I was ready to go. The dress is actually almost identical to a few dresses I pinned on my Pinterest wedding board two years ago. Fate.
The above photo shows my reception wedding dress. I am still in love with it and truly felt like a princess swishing about on the dance floor. In fact, I felt much more comfortable in this dress than my ceremony bridal dress.
I don’t want to keep it stored away forever either so I’m considering having it made into either a top and skirt or a short dress. We shall see.
Hi there! I came across your blog whilst looking for a wedding dress maker able to make a Berta/inbal dror inspired dress. I have to say you look absolutely incredible!!! I love your dresses. Could you kindly tell me what the quality of the dresses are like please? Are the dresses of equal quality of a dress bought from a bridal shop? Do you have any pictures of the front of your reception dress please? It is beautiful xxx
Hey, thanks for your message. I love receiving positive feedback about my wedding dress! The quality of the dresses were amazing and much better than most of the 1-2k dresses hanging up in ordinary bridal boutiques. You can, of course, request more expensive fabric – I’m sure if you suggested a type of fabric to Rae, she could send you samples to agree on first. I’ll try email you photos of the front of my reception dress later today xx
