I have made up a green smoothie daily for about 3-4 years now. I suppose you could say they have become an important part of my diet. Although that is not to say I follow a diet, I eat everything I want to eat but in moderation.
When I miss a day for whatever reason I crave a green smoothie. I truly mean this, I absolutely love them.
Recipe:
– Handful of spinach
– Chia seeds
– Glass of ice cold water
– An apple
– One banana
I add it to the blender in order of softness with the hardest item at the top so it blends first. This smoothie literally takes 5 minutes to whip up, is super easy, very refreshing and full of goodness.
Occasionally I switch the apple for mango and other times I’ll swap the water for almond milk and change the apple for berries. I have also started adding in half a scoop of protein powder which I am slowly taking to – I just don’t like the consistency so I’m trying to find the right balance in the amount I add in.
I went through a time where I replaced my breakfast with this smoothie. BIG mistake. I was hungry an hour later and lost far too much weight. I’ve since found the right routine for me by using the smoothie to supplement my breakfast rather than a replacement and this works very well for me.
I am almost certain that the daily dose of spinach has contributed to my hair growing. After having my long hair (I am talking past my bum) chopped off as a child, it would constantly stop at that annoying shoulder length stage. But ever since I become a green smoothie monster, my hair has grown and grown. Also, my skin has also drastically improved.
If you haven’t ever tried a green spinach smoothie, do it! They may not look particularly appetising but they taste good. I promise 🙂
