Finding a quintessentially English pub in the countryside was at the top of my list of things to find in the Cotswolds and we found just the place. The Ragged Cot is a stylish hotel/bistro restaurant set in a 17th-century coaching house in Minchinhampton, the epitome of countryside glamour. Even just the name Minchinhampton is utterly adorable!
We booked a table in advance and headed there after a long walk, it was just what we needed after a cold yet gloriously sunny day in the countryside. I ordered the beef, which seems to be a favourite, and while it was lovely, it was actually the pork that Jon ordered that proved to be the star of the show. The pork stuffing and crackling was just perfect – do try it! If you’re looking for a countryside pub or restaurant for a cosy Sunday lunch, I highly recommend The Ragged Cot!
Just a few photos of our walk in Minchinhampton where we walked through the common, had some Cotswold ice cream and wandered through the streets. As we stayed there it was on our doorstep but it’s not too far from Stroud or Cirencester, so if you’re in the area I recommend a few hours to walk and stop off at The Ragged Cot for a glass of wine and lunch.
