We recently returned from a wonderful break in the Cotswolds, staying at Bakers Cottage in Minchinhampton. Only a few hours drive from London, and Cambridge for us, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind in the glorious countryside. Think long walks and fresh air, cosy nights in front of a fire, wine and hot chocolate. It was just what we needed.
We booked to stay at Bakers Cottage through Character Cottages. It’s a cute cottage built in the famous Cotswold stone with two bedrooms a log fire and garden. It’s located in the idyllic town of Minchinhampton but on the main road going in so expect some traffic – including cows that often wander through the streets!
The living room is small but perfectly fine for a couple with a television and log fire. The kitchen was stocked with the necessary cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils to cook a meal or two and the bedrooms decorated in understated rustic elegance.
While Bakers Cottage was great as a base to explore the surrounding towns and villages, next time we’ll go for something a little more rural. Nonetheless, if you’re interested in Bakers Cottage or renting any cottage in the Cotswolds, I recommend Character Cottages as the booking process was seamless and they promote a few cottages from Air BnB but slightly cheaper!
