Dorothy Perkins #TweetItWinIt – Christmas Party Sparkle

You know when you enter a competition but never expect to win? Well, for once, I did actually win.

A few weeks ago I entered Dorothy Perkin’s #TweetItWinIt competition where Tweeters were asked to design a party outfit. And I won! I put together an outfit that I would wear to a party over the festive period with sparkle, sequins and faux fur!

I am obsessed with this grey tipped faux fur coat. It’s super warm and cosy but adds that little bit of glamour to a wintery party outfit. Dorothy Perkins have sold out online in this style but they have a good selection of faux fur coats, perfect for wrapping up in style!

A girl can never have too much faux fur hanging in her wardrobe.

I am also a little bit in love with the sparkly booties. They are black shoe boots with a concealed platform (making them really easy to walk in) and a gorgeous gold glitter design at the heel – so sparkly and perfect for Christmas!

I will definitely get quite a lot of wear out of these.

The sequin clutch bag is glittery and super cute! It is also a great affordable accessory to add some sparkle to a simple outfit!

Lastly, the white embellished tunic is absolutely gorgeous! The material is quite fine in an off-white knit with a beautiful gold embellished neck and a cute ribbon bow at the back.

It’s long enough to wear as a dress with opaque tights or as a tunic over leggings. What’s more, the fit is very flattering so it won’t cling to your body. Either way, it is the ideal Christmas day outfit!

*I have to say a huge thank you to Lauren from Dotty P’s. Thank you for your effort and patience in finding my lost parcel- it is greatly appreciated. You are a star!

Le P’tit Troquet Review – Bistro Restaurant close to the Eiffel Tower, Paris

Foie-grois, duck confit and creme brûlée are just a few of the highlights on the menu at Le P’tit Troquet. If you are looking for a cosy, traditional restaurant close to the Eiffel Tower (10 minutes walk) with authentic French cuisine, then I highly recommend this bistro.

Le P’tit Troquet is a very small bistro restaurant situated on a side street, close to the Eiffel Tower. It is not a restaurant you would walk past and think to go in which is probably worthwhile as you must book a reservation. Quite a few people were turned away while we ate.

We were seated at a table by the window by a waitress who spoke better English than my French! We went for the 33 Euro menu, which had a good variety of choices for a three course meal.

Jon went for the Salmon Tarter with Apple and crispy Fennel as a starter. It was beautifully presented and he loved it. I skipped the starter and settled for a glass of red wine, Sancerre, my fave.

For the main, I went for the Roasted Lamb Shank with Rosemary. It was beautiful. The lamb fell of the bone and the mashed potato was delicious. Whenever we eat mashed potato, Jon and I always remember a dinner we had at a place called KiKi’s in El Gouna, Egypt, in 2005. We still talk about that mash and this one was just as good. I am a fussy mashed potato eater. As you can probably tell!

For dessert I had the Very Mellow Chocolate Cake with Pistachio Cream Sauce. How amazing does this look? The cake was lovely and the pistachio sauce complemented it perfectly.

Jon went for the Pear and Almond Tartlet served with Almond Oil Ice Cream and once again, the presentation was impeccable.

We had a wonderfully romantic dinner at Le P’tit Troquet. The food was incredible yet quite simple and not fussy at all.

Jon proposed that night, so this restaurant holds special memories in my heart. We will certainly return.

Why Blog? And… Princess Jasmine Style Fancy Dress

OK, so lets go back to why I started blogging. I will be completely honest, I kind of had to do it. I took on a few editorial and PR work experience placements in 2008 and it was expected that any future employees worth considering, should have a blog.

So I started blogging. Probably only two or three times a year on anything and everything. But it meant I had an ‘online space’ where employers could see my writing and marketing skills in practice (SEO etc).

Then I really began to enjoy it. I wasn’t and I still don’t write to get likes or comments – I write for myself. It just so happens that now, even when I blog on average ten times a year, I have people reading my blog every single day! And this is mainly through SEO and keywords I put in the title, tags and links.

It’s good to know that although this blog is mainly for me to continue writing, people actually read it too. Shocking, I know.

So, as I have been pretty busy the last few months, I have a backlog of things I wanted to post.

Firstly, my Princess Jasmine outfit that I wore to a Halloween party this year.

Princess Jasmine is my fave Disney character!! I am in love with the exotic.

I found this outfit on eBay for a bargain £2.50. The waistband had no elastic so I simply stitched in some new elastic to create a tighter waist – added some big hair, Vita Liberata fake tan, gold jewellery and far too much eye makeup.

Princess Jasmine may be known for her turquoise blue costume but she did wear purple too. And purple is my colour. Blue? Less so.

I highly recommend looking on eBay for fancy dress costumes. You’re likely to only wear it once and with a little stitching here and sewing on a button there, you could have an outfit for only a few pounds.
