I had coveted the Bobbi Brown eye shadow palette sets for a long time but could never justify the cost. That is until I was kindly gifted a voucher – I didn’t think twice and instantly purchased the Bobbi Brown Smokey Nudes Eye Palette without looking at the shades.
I like this palette a lot but don’t love it.
The packaging. I am normally a fan of the luxurious Bobbi Brown packaging but I am not particularly keen on needing to pull out the bottom section of the eye palette, the functionality is not ideal and it feels quite flimsy.
Nonetheless, there is a good selection of wearable nude shades to build up a subtle to striking smokey eye. It is a good palette for someone who likes to mix soft hues and a little sparkle with a smokey eye.
Top to bottom, left to right.
1. Cream – a creamy beige that has no pigmentation at all on my skin. I actually don’t use this shade at all.
2. Naked – a warm nude that looks lovely when worn with the woodrose eye shadow.
3. Woodrose – a soft mauve grey, matte texture with a good pigmentation. I like to use this in the crease for daytime looks.
4. Silver Brown Sparkle – a beautiful glittery eyeshadow that sits well over a smokey eye, rather than applied on its own.
5. Watercolour Pink Sparkle – another highly pigmented sparkle that I love.
6. Gold – a muted gold metallic bronzy shade that needs to be built up.
7. Smokey Brown Metallic – another shade I love to build up for a beautiful smokey effect.
8. Smoked – a deep, dark grey/brown shadow. This is a good base for an evening smokey eye look and blends really well.
I was pleasantly surprised at the pigmentation of the sparkling shadows and love to use the following:
– Woodrose in my crease
– Smoked across the middle and outer corner of my lid
– Silver brown sparkle across the middle of my lid
– A little of the gold on the inner corner
The Bobbi Brown Smokey Nudes Eye Palette costs £48 which is quite a lot but the shadow textures are soft on the skin and long-lasting. The majority of eyeshadows can be mix and matched effortlessly for a subtle and soft daytime look or a striking smokey evening look.
I can’t wait to wear Watercolour Pink Sparkle and Smokey Brown Metallic for Christmas!
While the darker shades and the glitter colours have good pigmentation, I found that the lighter shadows don’t. And with the frustrating palette structure, I probably wouldn’t buy this type of palette again.
Next on my wish list is the Warm Glow Eye Palette – the bronze glitter and rose gold colours are calling my name!
