Earlier in the year I booked to have my hair braided at Be Bar Blow Dry Bar in Dubai. I’d seen them on Instagram quite a few times and always felt envious of the perfect braids that left the salon, so I knew as soon as I had a chance, I’d be trying it out myself.
Be Bar is essentially a blow dry bar focused on styling hair – the traditional blow dry, braids or an updo. They also provide a nail service and make-up application too. All blow dry styles cost 150 AED which I think is quite a fair price, while braids are really affordable at 40 AED (around £8). In London this would cost far more!
There’s a menu of blow dry options for long and short hair, in addition to examples of the type of braid you can go for. I went for something a little different to the menu and asked for some kind of fishtail braid from the front going towards the back.
While she was braiding my hair, she asked if I liked it or if I wanted to change it – they didn’t expect me to walk away unhappy! I actually loved it and left it in this style for a few days, before taking out the back braid and leaving it so I just had the front braid. To have my hair braided up and out of my face in the intense Dubai June heat was very much welcome.
I’ll definitely be going back but maybe for a blow dry next time. I love the salon – very fresh, cool, modern and bright white. It’s also conveniently located on Jumeirah Beach Road which I love as it has that seaside town vibe, only Dubai style.
A few doors to the right of Be Bar and you’ll find The Hamptons Cafe, how adorable? That bike reminds me of home – Cambridge girls know cycling. We love a pretty dutch bike!
